ITV’s ‘Love Your Garden’ visits Cascades Gardens

We recently had a visit to the garden by Love Your Garden producer and crew, to film the garden. The shoot took most of the day and involved a chat around the garden with Alan Clements and Katie Rushworth. We particularly focused on the theme of garden ideas from gardens experienced when abroad. Cascades Gardens was inspired by Japanese Gardens in Kyoto and Nara, Japan, from Alan’s visit there is 1996. The new dry-stone karesansui garden was photographed, as well as the meditation garden near seat 5, with water cascading down the rocks into three pools. The new Japanese pool garden composed from the old mill pond, was particularly featured, showing all the new acer and cryptomeria trees and Japanese ferns. A short demonstration of bonsai was given when Alan showed Katie how to bonsai a conifer tree. Cascades Gardens will feature in an edition of Love Your Garden in 2024, and we look forward to seeing this programme.

The garden and bonsai centre can now be viewed by appointment. Please ring Alan on 07967337404. Admission to the garden £8 per person, bonsai centre access free. We welcome dogs on leads.
